Marin Shakespeare Company - Hey nonny nonny and wild Shakespeare!--Pacific Sun

2012
The Liar

Clarice, a young lady of Paris

“Directed by Robert Currier with plenty of comic sass….The cast is first-rate, sinking its collective teeth into Ives' outrageous rhymes and ridiculous wordplay with a joy matched only by the script itself. As Alcippe, Clarice's sensitive but prone-to-anger fiancé, James Hiser is a stitch, managing to make his snarling reactions both pathetic and endearing. Natasha Noel, as identical twin servants to Clarece and Lucrece, is a delight, as is Jarion Monroe as Dorante's loving but clueless father.”

- David Templeton, North Bay Bohemian

Lucrece and Calrice, BFF
Cliton and Sabine

“It’s ingenious, and the audience loves it….The dialog is astoundingly facile and the humor sharp and quick. The actors did a herculean job remembering their lines, as there is no faking the words to the verse, particularly when an entering actor finishes the rhyme. It’s ingenious, and the audience loves it. The lead rogue is admirably handled by Darren Bridgett, an inventive and endearing actor who never loses a beat.”

- Cari Pace, Marinscope
